Facebook Ads Manager Gets a Facelift – Do You Like It?

You’ll probably have gotten quite the shock this morning when you fired up Facebook Ads Manager and noticed something wasn’t quite right. It looks as though Facebook has finally rolled out the new look for Ads Manager. We’ve seen sneak peeks of it in select partner accounts for a few months now but it looks like the rollout is happening across all accounts. Exciting times!

The updates are only within Ads Manager for now; your Business Manager home, Business Settings, Audiences etc all still have the same look and feel as before and I imagine it will be a staged rollout so as not to be too much of a drastic change all at once.

My first impressions are that the updated “skin” (for want of a better word) is a lot sleeker and falls more in line with the overall look and feel that Facebook is adopting for the Facebook app and Messenger. It’s a lot cleaner and looks a lot fresher than before.

Some of the instantly noticeable changes (aside from the aesthetics) are that they’ve moved the campaign navigation tabs from the top of your Campaigns list and the Campaign/Ad Set/Ads tabs now sit in a pop-out menu on the left of the screen. Not a huge change but something that will no doubt take Facebook Ad Manager veterans a little while to adjust to as they are such a frequently used feature.

They have also moved the entire top navigation menu which contained your links to things like Creative Hub, Audiences, Event Manager etc and have hidden this within the new pop-out menu. The Business Settings and notifications area from the top right of the window has also been moved down to the bottom left on the pop-out menu. This instantly makes the working area of Ads Manager so much bigger and you gain more real-estate to see the metrics for your ad campaigns, which is a big win for any Facebook advertiser.

Understandably, people don’t like change and it will no doubt take some people a while to get used to the new interface of Ads Manager. Personally, I like it, but for those that don’t, Facebook has left the option in for you to switch back to the old interface. This feels a bit like when Google updated the interface of Adwords and gave you the option to continue working on the old interface – I wouldn’t bother, I would just stick with the new interface as you are just prolonging the inevitable!

Has the new Ads Manager interface won you over? Do you like it? Hate it? Let us know!
