How Internet Traffic is Divided in 2019

As we are moving more and more into a connected world, are you aware of how your audience is splitting their time and attention?

Today I want to focus on mobile as mobile continues to be the priority for all of the large digital players from Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and Apple.

Of course, the focus is on mobile as this is where we are shifting our attention and time. The Nielson Total Audience report found there is a continual transition towards mobile internet; 18-34-year-olds have increased their mobile internet usage from 29-34% year-on-year. With the time spent on media consumption steadying at around 10.5 hours, this increase is at the cost of television viewing. TV consumption was surpassed by mobile in Q3 2017 and the gap is continuing to widen.

Now onto how people are spending their time on their mobile. YouTube is by far the leader and is responsible for 37% of all mobile internet traffic. Facebook and Snapchat are both battling it out neck in neck with 8.4% and 8.3% respectively. Interestingly, Instagram is trailing behind with only 5.7% of the pie.

How are you targeting your audience? Are you targeting your marketing message to them correctly in this changing digital age?
